Horse racing

Unless a player selects the show or, where available, the early price, all bets on Horse racing will be settled at the SP. In the event that no official SP is returned or in the event that no price is taken, then all SP bets will be settled according to the last Industry show passed.

Settlement

All races will be settled according to the official result, as soon as it is confirmed through the Weighed In signal through announcement or on a display. Any subsequent disqualifications will not count for settlement purposes except for UK & Irish Racing. In the event of a meeting not starting, or no starter reaching the end of the race, all bets are void and the stake will be paid back (odd: 1.00).

Where a 'no-race' is declared and is subsequently re-run bets are settled on the re-run.

Double Result

Double Result is only applicable to horse racing in the UK and Ireland.

Double Result means if your horse is 'First Past The Post' you get paid as a winner, however, should your horse be awarded the race or promoted to a place, as a result of a Stewards Enquiry or Objection which is announced before the 'weigh in', we will also pay you.

Double Result does not apply to the following bets or circumstances:

  1. All Ante-Post bets.
  2. A selection taking the wrong course.
  3. A selection carrying the wrong weight or the jockey failing to weigh-in.
  4. A forecast or tricast bet.
  5. A void race.
  6. A selection given as the winner in error by the judge.
  7. A bet placed on a two-runner race or a special match bet.
  8. A bet placed in a “betting without” market or any other derivative/special market.
  9. A bet placed on any Distances market.
  10. Any Tote/Pari-Mutuel bet.
  11. Aintree Grand National.

Tattersalls Rule 4

If a horse is deemed by the starter to have taken no official part in a race or it is withdrawn before coming ‘under starters orders’, then it will be deemed to be ‘void’ with stakes refunded, and the remaining selections subject to a deduction in accordance with Tattersalls Rule 4(c) scale of deductions.
Rule 4 deductions are calculated on the price at time of withdrawal, earlier rule 4s may be recalculated if subsequent non runners occur, the price of each withdrawn horse at each time of withdrawal is used for calculation of each rule 4 deduction.

Price at withdrawal Deduction to the pound (£1)
1/9 or shorter 90p
2/11 to 2/17 85p
1/4 to 1/5 80p
3/10 to 2/7 75p
2/5 to 1/3 70p
8/15 to 4/9 65p
8/13 to 4/7 60p
4/5 to 4/6 55p
20/21 to 5/6 50p
EVS to 6/5 45p
5/4 to 6/4 40p
8/5 to 7/4 35p
9/5 to 9/4 30p
12/5 to 3/1 25p
16/5 to 4/1 20p
9/2 to 11/2 15p
6/1 to 9/1 10p
10/1 to 14/1 5p
Over 14/1 No deductions

If two or more horses are withdrawn before coming under starters orders total deductions will not exceed 90p in the £.

If further withdrawals are made after a new market has been formed, than the newly formed prices may also be subject to a rule 4 deduction.

On occasion some races may contain reserve horses. These can be offered with or without an Early Price. The finishing position of any reserves will count regardless of whether a price was offered or not. If a reserve horse is offered with an Early Price and becomes a Non Runner then no rule 4 deduction will be applied as a result of the withdrawal. Should a reserve horse be declared as an official runner at the racecourse before the declaration stage and if then is subsequently withdrawn, normal Rule 4 rules will apply to the reserve horse from this point.

If the selection is withdrawn, then all bets on it will be void. In the case of a dead heat between two or more selections, the stake will be divided by the number dead heating.

In any horse race of fewer than 5 starters, all each-way bets will become win only to the total stake of the bet.

Abandoned/Postponed information

If a race takes place on a different venue, then all bets placed on the race before the announcement will be void.

Extra places

For races on which extra places have been offered, should non-runners reduce the field sizes in accordance with the below guidelines, offered place terms will adjust accordingly:

  • Extra Place - 3 Places: If there are fewer than 6 runners standard place terms will apply.
  • Extra Place - 4 Places: If there are fewer than 12 runners standard place terms will apply.
  • Extra Place - 5 Places: If there are fewer than 16 runners, we will pay 4 Places (1/5 odds).
Race winner

Select the winner of the race.

To place

Select which horse will place within the designated places. Place numbers are based on the number of declared runners, at the final declaration stage, and also the type of race:

We offer 2 places when there are 5-7 declared runners.

We offer 3 places when there are 8+ declared runners.

We offer 4 places when there are 16+ declared runners and the race is a handicap.

Settlement

Any bets placed in this market prior to a non-runner or non-runners being declared are subject to a non-runner deduction. The amount of the non-runner deduction depends on the number of places offered in the race as determined in 39.3 above and the prices of the non-runners according to the table below.

Non-runners do not change the number of places offered in the 'To Place' market. The number of places bet to is based on declared runner numbers at the final declarations stage and race type and remains the same unless there are too few runners remaining as determined by the following rule:

This market is settled as void if non-runners mean that the number of runners equals, or is lower than, the number of places.

Not to win

Select which horse will not win the specified race.

Settlement

Any bets placed on this market prior to a non-runner or non-runner(s), at odds of 14/1 or shorter, being declared are deemed as void.

If the market is reduced to just one runner due to non-runners/walkovers, then the market will be deemed as void.

Dead heat rules may apply.

Not to place

Select which horse will not place within the designated places. Place numbers are based on the number of declared runners and also the type of race:

We offer 2 places when there are 5-7 declared runners.

We offer 3 places when there are 8+ declared runners.

We offer 4 places when there are 16+ declared runners and the race is a handicap.

Settlement

Any bets placed on this market prior to a non-runner or non-runner(s), at odds of 14/1 or shorter, being declared are deemed as void.

Non runners do not change the place numbers. Places bet to are based on declared runner numbers and race type.

This market is settled as void if non runners mean that the number of runners equals, or is lower than, the number of places.

Betting without a named selection

Select which horse will be the winner in the race, excluding the selected named selection.

Settlement

For non-runners, standard Rule 4 deductions will apply, unless the non-runner is the selected horse. In this case, no deductions will be made.

Selected named horses combined against The field

This is a two-way market between two designated, and named, horses winning the race vs any other runner(s), collectively “The Field”.

This market is available for betting only if there are 4 or more active runners in the race.

Settlement

Any bets placed on this market prior to a non-runner or non-runner(s), at odds of 14/1 or shorter, being declared are deemed as void.

Head-to-Head (H2H)

Select which one of a two designated horses will finish in a higher position.

Settlement

If either of the horses in the Head-to-Head market are a non-runner, then that market is deemed as void and stakes will be returned.

If both horses finish the race, the horse with the best finishing position wins.

A horse that finishes the race (i.e., has a numerical finishing position) will always beat a horse that has not finished the race.

If neither horse in the Head-to-Head market finishes the race, both outcomes are settled as void and stakes are refunded.

Each Way (E/W)

All bets are settled to win unless each way is stated.

An each way bet is a bet of twice the selected stake and contains one bet of the value of your stake on the selection 'to win' and one bet of the value of your on the selection 'to be placed' according to the terms advertised for the event.

Unless otherwise advertised, the 'to be placed' part of each way bets is settled according to the following place terms:

Number of Runners Handicap races Non-Handicap race
2-4 'To win' only offered 'To win' only offered
5-7 1st 2 places at 1/4 odds 1st 2 places at 1/4 odds
8-11 1st 3 places at 1/5 odds 1st 3 places at 1/5 odds
12-15 1st 3 places at 1/4 odds 1st 3 places at 1/5 odds
16+ 1st 4 places at 1/4 odds 1st 3 places at 1/5 odds

NB In all races the number of runners shall be the number of runners that come under starters orders.

The above table applies for bets made at starting price, show price or early price.

In the event that there are an insufficient number of finishers for the above place terms, only runners that are officially placed will be considered successful selections. Bets on non-finishers will be lost.

For the purpose of settlement of bets, each-way doubles, trebles and accumulators will be settled win-to-win and place-to-place.

If you place a bet each way for a win only race or event, the total stake will be placed on the 'to win' bet.

Forecast

For a forecast bet, you must select, in the correct order, which horses will finish 1st and 2nd in the race.

Forecast bets are accepted for races with 3 or more actual runners.

Bets are settled as straight forecasts in accordance with the computer straight forecast dividend.

Forecast bets containing unnamed favourites are not accepted.

Any forecast bets mistakenly accepted for races with only two runners, will be settled as a single to win bets on the selection picked to finish in 1st place.

In the event that a horse finishes alone in a race, forecast bets that nominated the finishing horse to finish 1st will be settled as a single to win bets at SP. All other forecast bets for the race will be lost.

In the event that a non runner is selected as part of a forecast bet, the bet will stand as a single to win bet on the remaining selected horse. In fixed price forecasts this remaining selection will be settled at SP.

If a customer places combination forecasts A B C and stakes for 6 bets, this forecast will be settled as the following six straight forecasts: AB, AC, BA, BC, CA, CB

In the event that there is a dead heat between two or more horses, separate returns will be declared and paid for each qualifying forecast.

Tricast

For a tricast bet, you must select, in the correct order, which horses will finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the race.

Tricast dividends will be returned in all handicaps with 8 or more declared runners and may also be returned for selected high profile races that do not fit this criteria.

Tricasts will be settled in accordance with the official Tricast dividend.

Tricast bets are accepted in single bets only. Stakes for any tricast double, treble, etc accepted in error will be divided equally to cover each tricast race in tricast singles only.

Any Tricast bets accepted in error for races where no Tricast dividend is declared will be settled as computerised straight forecasts on the selections nominated to finish first and second, with the selection for third place discounted.

Should a Tricast include a non-runner, the total stake will be invested as a computerised Straight Forecast on the remaining two selections in the order selected. In the case of Combination Tricasts the total stake will be invested as a Combination Forecast on the remaining two selections.

If less than three horses finish in a Tricast race, a dividend will be declared on those that finish.

Should a Tricast include two non-runners the bet will be settled as a single at SP.

Race winning distance

Select what the winning distance of a race will be.

Settlement

All distances bets will be settled on a First Past The Post basis. However, if one of the first two horses to finish has taken the wrong course or is carrying the incorrect weight, then the winner will be deemed to be the first horse past the post who has taken the correct course. The winning distance will then be taken from the first horse to legitimately complete the course back to the second horse to legitimately complete the course.

In the event of non-runners, bets will stand and there will not be a rule 4 deduction.

Odd vs Even

Select whether the winning racecard number will be Odd or Even.

Settlement

Any bets placed on this market prior to a non-runner or non-runner(s), at odds of 14/1 or shorter, being declared are deemed as void.
